Henry needed some peace and quiet. Hiking through the wilderness, nature always calmed him. A bright orange and black butterfly fluttered close. Mesmerized, he followed it off the trail and soon became lost. The sun set, and he slept under a tree. Rising the next morning, Henry drank from a stream, ate Granola from his bag, and munched on berries. Finally finding the trail, his phone “dinged” with messages from his wife.
“Where are you? I bet you got lost, you stupid, stupid man!”
Crushing his phone under his heel, he stepped off the trail and back into the wilderness.

“Friday Fictioneers” is a weekly challenge by Rochelle Wisoff Fields. The challenge is to write a story, using only 100 words, in response to a photo prompt. It has been a lot of fun to join in with this fantastic and encouraging group of writers! This week’s beautiful photo was taken by Jan Wayne Fields. If you would like to read other stories, visit HERE.
Beautiful photo … great story … isn’t it sad that that is really the way life is for some. 🙂 You’re a good writer Brenda!

Aw, poor Henry! His wife’ll probably have the helicopters out looking for him now.

I’d ran away from home too if I had a wife like her.

Thank you, Dahlia, for commenting. There are certainly days like these and times we feel like this (the reasons might be different but still…) =)
