Too Late?

Is it too late?  Am I too old? Sasha thought while leaning against the doorframe.  Her arms crossed, she stood staring into the long-neglected music studio.  She was told she had talent, but that was a long time ago.  For years, she put her music aside.  She raised her children and had obligations that stole her time.  Her husband encouraged her, but reality intruded.

On stage at the Royal Theatre, she looked out into the audience.  Her family sat on the front row, beaming with pride.  When Sasha finished her concert, the standing ovation brought tears to her eyes.

Perfection in an egg- cup! I love it Brenda. I got more enjoyment from it than from the three books I read on my week’s holiday.

    1. Having just finished a fantastic online course on writing, this old fifty-seven year old is feeling inspired (hehe). I was busy raising my children and working when I was younger, so now I am circling back to the love of writing I had many (many) years ago. Here’s hoping it’s never too late! 🙂

Oh… the house sale seems to have stagnated a bit… no bites in a few weeks but I’m not stressing… the right buyer will come along – eventually.

    1. Very true, the most important thing in life is to “try.” It was a bonus that she made it. There is always hope! 🙂 Thank you for reading my story and commenting.

  16. I glad she decided to try. That’s what really counts. Some people talk themselves out of it because they fear failure. That’s true failure.

I already flopped at making it big in the music industry. Haven’t broken into the top 100 on the NY Times Bestseller list yet either. But I know there’s a superstar inside me just waiting to bust out if I can just find the art medium.

    1. What you said is very profound, “Some people talk themselves out of it because they fear failure. That’s true failure.” The joy found in the art form is most important as well. For me, as I begin writing at a later age, it’s all about the joy of the thing. As they say on this side of the world, in Chinese, “Jai You!” Pour on the oil and keep going, I’m sure you’ll find your inner superstar. By the way, I look forward to reading your books soon. =)
