Nadara

When the Nadara walked through the Shimmer, they brought us knowledge of other worlds. They healed our sicknesses and cleaned our earth. They engendered our trust and we gave them the power to rule. But they are nothing as they first appeared. They were sent to destroy humankind. They built us up to consume us. Beneath their human form, their true identity is as a nightmare. Those of us who have seen it and survived are now in hiding. Do not trust them!

If you can hear this message … Run!

“Friday Fictioneers” is a weekly challenge hosted by Rochelle Wisoff Fields. The challenge is to write a story using only 100 words in response to a photo prompt. This week’s photo was taken by Liz Young. It has been a lot of fun to join in with this fantastic and encouraging group of writers! Other stories can be found HERE.

Great story! An invasion from within. Reminds me of a Stargate SG1 episode (in that case they offered technology and medicine etc. all the while quietly sterilising the human race).

  4. I like the idea of something so evil coming through the shimmer which seems so welcoming and beautiful. Nicely done.

  5. Dear Brenda,

My first response to this is, “wow!” There’s so much story here. Chilling that something originally perceived as welcome can turn out to be evil. Well done.

    Shalom,

    1. Thank you, Rochelle, for the “wow!” =) It is indeed the most evil when at first it appears beautiful and trustworthy.

I like the description of the Nadara ‘walking through the Shimmer’ to reach earth. Evil masquerading as good is a powerful theme.

(forgive me for referring to an old Sci-Fi movie) 🙂
