I hope everyone had a safe and happy holiday. I’m not sure what to expect from 2019. I know a big international move is on the horizon for my family and I. I’ve done them many times, you’d think I’d get used to them. I don’t think you ever get used to packing up all your belongings and saying goodbyes. At least I’ll have new doors to discover!
Looking for doors is a wonderful excuse to visit places I’ve not been to. Hong Kong has so many faces. I’ve lived here off and on for over ten years and am still discovering new parts (or rediscovering). Before Christmas, I created a post from the Wan Chai area, located on the main Hong Kong Island. I had spent seven hours at HK immigration sorting out my visa. When I finished, I went looking for doors to lift my mood.
The doors that follow were taken on that same day. While walking around in Wan Chai, this restored heritage building caught my eye.
It was built in 1888.
Now, it houses “The Pawn,” a restaurant, of British cuisine, and bar laid out on two of the four floors.

Thanks so much, Norm. It’ll be a few months, but then the whirlwind will begin as we prepare. I’ll visit a few more spots in Hong Kong before leaving and look for more doors (at least gates … haha). =)

At least your holidays were pleasant:) The last photo makes me smile. It seems that in Asia they always find a way to transport things without having a car!
Oh my dear, this post sounds all to familiar to parts of my life! The only difference is that I dealt with different countries than China:)
Are things sorted out right now with your passport, I hope? Also, I hope they’re moving fast now (I still remember how slow they move in comm. countries:( ) Although Hong Kong should be different, eh?

I did have a nice holiday and hope you did too! It is true, I’m sure you saw while you were here all the many ways people in Asia transport loads of things including rickshaws, bicycles, on their backs or heads, little carts they drag or push. It’s amazing.
I am squared away with my new passport and my visa reinserted. They are quite efficient here, it all just took time. All finished and the moral of the story … hold tightly to my passport.

Love the green door. I had no idea you were in Hong Kong. The red sign hanging from the wall is lobvely too. It looks almost like a Christmas Ornament. Happy moving! Where are you off to?

Yes, we live in Hong Kong. Our move is delayed until the Fall and we’ll be moving either to Malta or somewhere in France (long story … hehe). Thank you so much for your well-wishes! =)
