Thursday Doors: Across the Arno River

The following photos are my contribution to Thursday Doors, a door-lovers group hosted by Norm Frampton.

For the sixth week in a row, my post features doors from Florence, Italy.

IMG_20200113_135959My family and I found these beautiful arch top doors when wandering through the neighborhoods on the other side of the Arno River from the Duomo Cathedral and the Uffizi Gallery.

IMG_20200113_141032IMG_20200113_141115IMG_20200113_141747I thought this was interesting too … a wine window!

IMG_20200113_130531 (1)“‘Wine windows’ are small openings in the facades of many large houses and palaces in Florence. For three centuries, they were a crucial component of how local wines were bought and sold, directly from producer to consumer.” (

Thank you so much for stopping by.  I hope that everyone stays safe and healthy, and that you enjoy a relaxing weekend!

Wonderful doors but that little wine window wins the day. Great find!

    1. Right? And then I was on the lookout, but didn’t find any more. Evidently, there are others waiting to be found in Florence.
