Thursday Doors: Vicolo della Lanterna, Catania, Sicily

Here is my contribution to Thursday Doors, a weekly door-lover’s group hosted by Dan Antion over at No Facilities.

~~

This week, I’m featuring more doors from the ancient port city of Catania (Sicily) in Italy from the Fall of 2021.  The following are photos from a quaint old neighborhood near the Catania Historical Centre called Vicolo della Lanterna or Lantern Alley.  I hope you enjoy the charm.

And, here’s a nearby colorful community space!

Thank you for stopping by!

  1. Lovely doors. I like the stone work around the doors, gives that historic feel of long ago to the building.

These are wonderful doors. That first photo makes me think I wouldn’t want to be driving through town, but the street scene is lovely. I love the stone walls around these doors. I think a wooden door in a stone entrance is about as good as it gets for a door. Thanks for sharing these, Brenda.

    1. I agree that wooden doors in stone structures are pretty amazing. I think the layers of black soot from Mt. Etna gives Catania a bit more of a rundown look besides its age. It is an intriguing place, though. Plus, the narrow streets are difficult to navigate. My husband and I don’t drive, so we wander and find some cool out of the way places. 🙂 I’m glad you enjoyed!
