Thursday Doors: Plaza de Armas, Seville, Spain

Here is my contribution to Thursday Doors, a weekly door-lover’s group hosted by Dan Antion over at No Facilities.

~~

Over the next few weeks, I’ll be featuring doors I discovered in Seville, Spain but neglected to post. A couple of months ago, I moved from Seville, but thought I’d share them anyway.

Near the historic center of Seville is the Plaza de Armas.  In the past, the main building served as a train station.

“Plaza de Armas in Seville is home to this impressive Neo-Mudejar-inspired building that draws on the architecture of monuments such as the Mosque of Tangier or the impressive courtyard of the lions of the Alhambra. Its large glass and iron stained glass window in contrast to the wavy arches and the exotic façade make a building as popular with the locals as it is interesting for the traveler.”  (OWAY Tours)

I took these photos in May, so the Jacaranda trees were in full bloom all over Seville.

Here’s the back of the building, a nice place to sit awhile, relax, and people watch.

I hope you enjoyed!

Thank you for stopping by.  Wishing you a a wonderful weekend.

I really enjoyed this post, Brenda. I was guessing that the building was a train station. It’s so beautiful. I love the interior photos showing the shadow lines on the walls. That’s really pretty.

    1. I’m so glad, Dan. I knew you would enjoy the fact that it used to function as a train station and the iron work that cast shadows at just the right time. I told my husband when I posted it that you would. 🙂 Thanks so much!

I seem to have missed this beautiful place. Have to look into my photos if I absentmindedly did cross it and clicked without knowing what it was!

    1. I understand that. I’ve done that before. We discovered it randomly as we often did a bus transfer at that spot, getting from one side of the city to the other. It was a lovely surprise find! 🙂 Thanks, PR!

I found that I have a picture of one corner of that building because it looked very interesting – one of the first things I clicked in Seville, when I boarded the the bus from the station to the city😀. I wish I could have seen it from the front too but may be next time 🤞
