Thursday Doors: The Igreja da Nossa Senhora da Conceição, Portimão, Portugal

This week, like last, I’m featuring doors from Portimão, a coastal town in southern Portugal. 

The Igreja da Nossa Senhora da Conceição is located at the center of Portimão.  It is known as Portimão Mother Church.  It was founded in 1476 and built in a Portuguese Gothic style, which is quite popular in Portimão. In the 16^th century, Renaissance and Manueline features were added.

This building is covered in “azulejo,” the famous Portuguese and Spanish painted tin-glazed ceramic tiles.
