Thursday Doors: The Igreja da Nossa Senhora da Conceição, Portimão, Portugal

This post is my contribution to Thursday Doors, a weekly door-lover’s group hosted by Dan Antion over at No Facilities.

~~

This week, like last, I’m featuring doors from Portimão, a coastal town in southern Portugal.

The Igreja da Nossa Senhora da Conceição is located at the center of Portimão.  It is known as Portimão Mother Church.  It was founded in 1476 and built in a Portuguese Gothic style, which is quite popular in Portimão. In the 16th century, Renaissance and Manueline features were added.

Here are a couple of doors nearby …

This building is covered in “azulejo,” the famous Portuguese and Spanish painted tin-glazed ceramic tiles.

If you would like to see my first post from this Portimão, visit here.  I hope you enjoyed a little bit more!

For more doors from all around the globe, visit Dan at No Facilities.

Thank you for stopping by.  Wishing you a wonderful weekend.

I love that blue and gold door! Just fabulous! It’s strange but my Polish niece was staying in Portimao the last couple of days. She came to visit me here in Tavira yesterday and loved it.

The church facade is stunning, and I can’t decide, but perhaps more stunning at night. They did a very good job of lighting it. Interesting about the sound the storks make. I hope you have a great weekend, Brenda.
