This post is my contribution to Thursday Doors, a weekly door-lover’s group hosted by Dan Antion over at No Facilities.

For this week’s door post, I’m featuring a little bit more of the city of Athens in Greece from a recent trip there in November with my daughter and husband. After a tour of the Acropolis, we left through the back gate and moseyed down the hill.

We strolled through a quaint village…

…where the street art was intriguing.

We walked beside the Roman Forum of Athens (or Roman Agora). These remains are from 19-11 BC.

We visited the Holy Church of the All-Great Taxiarchs and the Virgin Mary Gregorousa (whew, what a mouthful), a Byzantine church built in the 19th century.

And, on to the ruins of the ancient Roman library, the Hadrian’s Library.

It was an exhausting yet incredibly fun day! I hope you enjoyed a bit more of Athens.

Wonderful doors, Brenda, with an a mazing history one can only imagine. The door of the church (with the name) is beautiful. The ruins and remains takes my mind to totally different eras where I wonder how things were done. Thanks for sharing these photos.

Thanks so much, Dan. The agora is where the people gathered for meetings and market days. It was fun to imagine what that must have been like. And, of course, the library…
