This is my contribution to the weekly Thursday Doors challenge, hosted by Dan Antion over at No Facilities blog.
~~
In the Fall, my husband and I took a weekend trip to Madrid, Spain. Here are a few photos from wandering around the Justicia District and the Salamanca neighborhood. Madrid is sometimes referred to as the “Paris” of Spain, with its stylish architecture and history. I hope you enjoy a little tour of Madrid.

This is the Spanish Supreme Court, the highest court in the Kingdom of Spain.

Like Dan, our host, I do love corner buildings.

This is the famous Edificio Metrópolis, a beautiful Parisian style building. It serves as an office building, opened in 1911, designed by Jules and Raymond Février.

The Cibeles Palace is the seat of Madrid City Council. It opened in 1909.

Around the corner from the Cibeles Palace is this monument, called Madrid a los Refugiados, and is a monument dedicated to migrants and refugees.

Thank you for stopping by. For more contributions to Thursday Doors, from around the globe, visit Dan’s. Have a wonderful weekend!

These are such beautiful doors, Brenda. I do love the corner photos, but I really like the one with a nice long view inside, and the in one door out the other photo! I hope you have a wonderful week.

Just beautiful! I do hope to get to Spain some day, and I have a friend who lives over there I’d love to visit. I have heard, though, that some of the cities in Europe are getting overrun with tourists and the locals are fighting back. I know that Barcelona has that problem. Is Madrid more welcoming?

I know, there was a big deal with the Barcelona protests. We lived in Seville (2022-2023) and have travelled to different locations in Spain (as you know). We’ve never had a negative experience so far. People have been friendly. I think if you don’t look or act too much like a tourist, if that makes sense, a Spanish person wouldn’t even notice that you are not Spanish. 🙂 It’s good to have a friend. They can tell you what’s what as well. I hope this helps and I hope you visit Spain one day. It is very much worth it! Thanks so much for stopping by, Ann.

Every door is more beautiful than the next. And I love that the buildings are majestic yet still not overpowering. (K)

Hi Brenda,
Beautiful photos and a lovely glimpse into Madrid’s architecture! The Edificio Metrópolis is such a stunning landmark, and I love the inclusion of the refugee monument—it’s a meaningful touch. Thanks for sharing this little tour of the city!

My husband and I were so pleased to find the monument! We had to high-step through some muck (it had been rainy before our visit) to get to it. 🙂 Thanks so much for stopping by!
