This is my contribution to the weekly Thursday Doors challenge, hosted by Dan Antion over at No Facilities blog.

For the last two months, my hubby and I have been romping around France. I’m so thankful for the train system here and in Europe overall. Our first stop was Lyon. At the beginning of July, we spent a couple of days in this lovely and easily maneuverable city.

“Lyon is the third-largest city nestled at the confluence of the Rhône and Saône rivers. Founded by Romans in 43 BC, this UNESCO World Heritage site harmoniously blends 2,000 years of history with modern French living. From the medieval streets of Vieux Lyon to the Renaissance architecture of Presqu’île, the city enchants visitors with its rich cultural heritage, world-renowned gastronomy, and vibrant urban atmosphere.” (Explore France)

The Guillotière bridge is the main bridge over the Rhône River. The first mention of the bridge is in 1180. The views of Lyon are incredible from this spot.

A closer shot of the dragon statue (which I could not find any information on). It was cool none-the-less.

Palais de la Mutualite is a performance hall in the heart of Lyon, in Mutualite Prefecture Moncey, near the bridge. It was built in 1910 and still very much in use today.

Here are a couple of miscellaneous doors from this part of Lyon.

We took a break in this lovely park , Place Bellecour. It was a very hot day!

Like other cities we have visited in France, there are beautiful carousels!

I hope you enjoyed a small peek at Lyon. More next week!

What a great presentation! I had no idea carousels were commonplace in France- what a lovely touch.

Thanks, Violet, for your kind comment! There is a lot of beauty in Lyon to photograph. Bright shiny new or antique carousels are in every city in France that we’ve visited so far. It’s like a treasure hunt to find them! 🙂

It is a lot of fun to find so many different kinds of doors in one city. You’ll need to go back to Italy. 🙂

These are lovely doors, Brenda. I love the entrance to the performance hall. I also like the dragon and the carousel – that’s a nice door on that carriage.

Yes, the entrance is very inviting. We need to go back and attend a concert or something. 🙂 The dragon was an unexpected find, and like I said, I can’t find any information on it. I should have did a little digging when I was there. Carousels are always a treat for me. Wonderful childhood memories. Happy weekend!

That’s a great dragon, and a wonderful assortment of doors. The green Cafe is very appealing. (K)

The Cafe was eye-catching for sure. I did enjoy the dragon. It has a sort of cyberpunk (I think it’s called) feel to it. Thanks so much for stopping by and leaving a comment! Have a nice weekend, Kerfe!

Wonderful photo gallery, Brenda. I love the theatre door, Place Bellecour and the dragon sculpture…fascinating that there is no information on it…a mysterious art piece. Great share. Thank you for the beautiful tour of Leon. The weather looked amazing!

Hi Suzette! It was so hot, but it was clear and the sky was blue so as long as we stopped for water breaks it was okay. Thanks so much for your encouraging comments! 🙂
