Bathed in the warm glow of the spotlight, she bowed to the applause of the patrons calling for more. She sat at the baby grand. The music flowed from her soul.
A harsh voice burst the bubble of her dream. “Get back to work!”
Rising slowly, she brushed at her stained tunic, grabbed her broom, and limped toward the back of the stage. She would never be worthy of their applause. Before exiting, a man dressed in a tuxedo stepped from the dark beyond the spotlight.
He clapped while strolling toward her. “Please, could you play some more for me?”

Dare to dream. Nice feelgood story.

I’m sure many an artiste has been discovered in circumstances such as this. Thanks for your heartwarming tale, they are few and far between this week!

That is a beautiful write. Oh, how often that happens, ain’t is so. So many artists, unsung and unseen, hidden among the “least” of society. Doing the menial tasks with no recognition or even appreciation. Love this.

Thank you so much for your kind comment. It is sad to think about the talent gone undiscovered. I’m so glad you enjoyed the story. =)

It is sad to think of it. I have met many artists unsung on the world stage… and in some senses far more talented.

A happy ending; just what we need in these dark times. It would be great to know how the girl got to where she is; there’s scope for quite a story!

And so, hopefully, she gets to drop her broom and lay her fingers on the piano to spread her music!

What a heart-warming story Brenda. I can so imagine how magical being in an empty theatre could be, literally the stage is set for your dreams to unfold.

The only way people are going to applaud for her is to put herself out there. I hope she makes the best of this opportunity.
