The inanimate world is against me! Objects attack when no one is looking. Last week, a couch cover grabbed my leg. I fell to the floor landing on my face. Yesterday, my baby toe slammed into the kitchen shelf after it quietly slid across my path. These objects also like to hide. Today, my keys jumped behind the credenza by the front door where they hid for hours. I swear I heard them laughing.
They have a devious plan. I just need to find out what it is! In the meantime, can anyone tell me where my glasses are hiding?

Dear Brenda,
This made me laugh out loud. I’ve suspected this all along. Ever notice how something you’ve been looking for for months, even years, shows up when you’re frantically searching for something else? It is a conspiracy. Thanks for ratting them out. Well told.
Shalom,
Rochelle

Fun story, Brenda.
And the good news is that it gets worse as you get older.
The only time I use my landline is to find my mobile, but sadly that doesn’t work for glasses or keys.

Oh, well, that’s not good news. I think there’s a market for keys and glasses that have a chip implanted in them for easy locating. Hmm! =) Thanks for commenting!

This is great. I wrote a poem called The Malevolence of Everyday Objects that addresses this same sentiment, so I know where you’re coming from here.

I like this take on the prompt! Whatever you do, don’t have a safe place where you put your keys or you’ll never see them again!

I love this, there is a conspiracy I’m sure of it. I’m regularly ganged up on by my wallet.

I saw your glasses on the shelf marked “giggles.”
On the right side, third shelf from the top. By the plastic bags.
If you see my wallet there, would you mail it to me?

Dear friend. I am writing on behalf of the keys and the to-do-list (they’d eloped, in case you didn’t know), who want to inform you that they’d taken your reading glasses because they needed to see the world. 😉 (PS the shelf is just vindictive).

Well, how can I be angry if they need the glasses to see the world! A worthy endeavor. Thank you kind friend for letting me know. I won’t look any longer and maybe in letting it go I can have peace with the other objects that fex me! =)

For sure, and by the way, can you let the shelf know that we’re all good. My toe still throbs! 😀

Oh my, I’ve done that many times … left them on my head and asked my husband if he’d seen them. His expression always gave it away! I continue in my search … =)

Not on my head, but I did find them!! They were hiding under my bed. Don’t ask me how they climbed down there … but none-the-less … =)

It’s the ultimate conundrum, how do you find your glasses if you can’t see clearly? There is a lot of truth in your story.
