The following photos are my contribution to Thursday Doors, a door-lovers group hosted by Norm Frampton.

For my door-post this week, I’m featuring the famous St. Mark’s Basilica which is one of the most visited sights in Venice.
The cathedral has a long, interesting history. A church was built on this spot in 832 to house the relics of Saint Mark the Evangelist, which were stolen from Egypt by Venetian merchants. The church burned down in 976 during an uprising. It was restored in 1071.
The cathedral is filled with stunning mosaics of Old and New Testament scenes.
I hope you enjoyed the tour! If you are interested in learning more about St. Mark’s Basilica in Venice, see the following website:

Thanks so much, Norm. Indeed an enormous amount of detail on the outside and the inside. It was difficult to know where to focus. Loved it! =)
